General Welfare

General Welfare does not mean Welfare! That idea is a perverse twisting of the language in our Constitution. General Welfare is actually an explanation for the authority to tax. Taxation for the purpose of preserving our rights, the rights of the individual to freedom.

Politicians are seduced by socialism, the sure path to power, it's what destroyed the Roman Empire. It's absolutely unconstitutional! Unfortunately it's what all big governments tend to deteriorate into. It is however not the American way, not yet! Our form of government gives all the rights to the individual, not the collective. In America the collective have no rights. There is no bill of rights for the masses. The bill of rights assures the rights of the individual within society. When the focus of the government turns away from the individual to the collective multitude, you enslave all. It's the job of your politicians to preserve your freedom, not feed you. It is not the job of the American Government Federal or State or Local to provide your housing, give you a college education or pay your hospital/doctor bills. It's their job not to! Once they interfere in the market place they drive the price of these, the most necessary and basic things in life, sky high.

The vast middle class and the poor can not legally or constitutionally demand the rich support them in the name of the "General Welfare." At least they didn't used to be able to. It's not in the Constitution no matter what corrupt politicians may tell you about General Welfare. You have no right to medical care, housing, education, or anything else society gives you access to. You have the right to free speech, to bear arms, and to be treated equally under the law, you have the right to own property and no one has a right to search or seize it unlawfully. You have the right to worship, to assemble, to live anywhere you can afford, to raise your family, small or large. To work for yourself or others equitably. That about covers it frankly.

The government wildly exceeds it's authority when it taxes the people 50% of it's wealth. Talk about taxation without representation. Is it really government's job to keep you free then steal half of what you earn? Something stinks and I think it's the Politicians! They give your money away as favors to unions and the poor to buy votes. No truth flows from their tongue, only scripted dialog off the teleprompter. Their first order of business should be to protect the constitution they are sworn to uphold and to preserve the freedom of each individual they represent, instead they subvert our system of government for the purpose of remaining in office. Their lust for power matches that of a drug addicts in need of a fix. This can only leads to the death knell of our constitution and an end to the only truly free society in the history of man.

There are two types of politician to be fair, at least on the socialist side of things. First the truly vile and evil one who promotes the lie knowingly. Perhaps even more dangerous, those ignorant fools who actually believe the lie and in the name of compassion seek to make all men equal.

There is no equal except in the grave. Equal don't exist in the real world Mr & Ms Politician. Yes we're equal before the law and before God, that's where it ends. News flash! We don't want to be equal! I don't want to be filthy rich or famous. I don't want to be powerful or important. I want to spend my time and energy with my family teaching my kids to play music. Expose them to the glories of nature, explore the Southwest on long drives each weekend, Death Valley, Zion & Brice Canyon, we've even gone to Yosemite! I''m rich when able to share my feelings and beliefs with my children. The adulation, wealth and power of the world mean little to me. Simple things and freedom are my treasure.

The framers of the Constitution never envisioned the "Government" taking care of the people. The purpose of government was to allow the people the freedom to take care of themselves.

In America you have the absolute right to become rich by getting an education, and/or working hard. This is the land of opportunity and many become rich. Wealth however is not the same for all people. True wealth for me is my happy little family and our modest home. I don't need many material things to be wealthy in my heart, but I do need my freedom, for me and to pass on to my children.

Sadly our bounty is being stolen. Inflation is built into the system, goodbye gold standard. All right thinking Americans were horrified as politicians conspired to destroy the market, with a housing crisis designed to crash our economy. "Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. Now they plan on taxing the middle class into submission as they put us into debt for trillions of dollars that can only destroy freedom and opportunity for our children.

Socialism is where politicians pretend to be Robbin Hood, they steal from the rich, give to the poor destroying both in the process, the only one who gains from socialism is the politician. Socialism is contrary to human nature, or rather it appeals to the worst of human nature. Sloth! Why work to improve yourself if you can get someone to steal from the perceived rich and give it to you. Theft is theft! Whether done by you or you hire it done by the government. Ultimately why should the energetic bother to go to school and work hard? You can't keep what you earn! Ambition stripped from the productive and sloth rewarded in the lazy. A loose, loose situation.

History has repeatedly shown that you can not impose charity or overt control on any people, not for long. Capitalism, freedom, government of the people, takes advantage of the best in human nature, the desire to excel, so it works. Socialism is diametrically opposite to the way God made us. God in his infinite wisdom gave us free will, we get to choose. When government has the audacity usurp our free will and make our choices for us that government will surely fail.

There is no charitable bureaucrat or politician, they should do nothing that requires compassion, they have none. We need to phase out entitlement programs and put charity back in the hands of the truly charitable, "We The People." All social programs go over budget. Why? Because it is not the job of government to take care of people and they're no good at it. They're trying to do our job! People take care of people. Government's job is solely to preserve our rights. When the politician and bureaucrat run welfare - you get dysfunctional families. When in charge of retirement - you get a ponzi scheme. At your children's schools - they teach Social Studies (get it?) to the exclusion of American History. Once in charge of your medical care - you'll get death panels. It's happened before, not in America not yet but in Communist Countries and Socialist States like NAZI Germany.

The nasty little underlying lie Socialists imply is that people are basically evil. That the rich want the poor to die wretchedly without medical attention or help. That only the compassion of government can step in and eradicate the evil of too much wealth at the expense of the poor. Excuse me, the wealthy always lift up a society to higher and higher levels, the more wealthy the rich, the more wealthy the poor! The wealth really does trickle down! Oh and for the record people are basically good, the government doesn't need to step in and take over charity.

There has never before in America been a time when the government has grown to this bloated, enormous size. Are the people any better off? The homeless are everywhere, in my entire life I have never seen the tent cities like we have in Vegas now. The mentally ill have been turned out of the institutions thanks to socialist groups like the ACLU, an absolute tragedy for the mentally ill and for our society. At least one in ten Americans is out of work, probably closer to one in five. Everywhere homes are boarded up and vacant because people could not afford the mortgage. Our society is on the verge of social and economic collapse but still the government conspires to impose higher taxes and create even more outrageous and unlawful socialist programs. Unfunded programs that will bankrupt out nation and destroy the people they were supposedly designed to help.

With all due respect to the framers of our Constitution, they made one tragic mistake. They did not put a strict limit on the percent of tax the government could levy. There is absolutely no reason for government to tax over 10%. When government is doing it's job and only it's job, 3% is probably enough.

General Welfare is supposed to be the path to freedom, it assures that government has the money to fund the Army and secure our borders. General Welfare means the government has the where with all to protect us, to secure our freedom. Freedom for a man to keep what he earns. Freedom to support his family and pass his inheritance on to his children. Freedom for the people to support their churches and help the poor. We have always been the most generous people on earth, because we're free and therefore prosperous. We the people take care of the poor and those in need, government sure as hell isn't going to take care of the needy, not even if they steal trillions from our children to do it. General Welfare and taxation were meant to assure our freedom from invasion, not become the invasion.
